About the format

Product workshops are a format within the New Economy of Ivano-Frankivsk project, during which you can create a new, improve an existing product or service, develop a prototype or test an idea, and make several product iterations as needed. The team engages the necessary specialists and expertise according to the request.

The format is for developers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and teams who want to test new ideas, create prototypes, develop final test samples before full-scale production, etc.

How is the workshop going?

The team of the METALAB urban laboratory, which coordinates this direction in the project, has developed a methodology for the workshops. The workshop includes a preparatory part: a series of meetings to understand the problem and formulation of the technical task. Once the task is clearly understood, the team selects expertise, specialists, and, if necessary, production sites or other technical specialists according to the request. Creating a product/service/solution can consist of several iterations – steps during which each next prototype improves in terms of characteristics.с яких кожен наступний прототип покращується за характеристиками. 

What workshops has the team already held?

Since the beginning of the project, the team has held the following workshops:

  • Design a solution for a company in the field of eSports;

  • Сreate a furniture prototype (bed and rack) for KO-HATY housing, where people with IDP status live;
A shelf and a bed were placed in one of the KO-HATY buildings. Prototypes of furniture were created during the workshop
  • Develop the technology of artificial leather from mycelium (financing of the first stage of procurement of raw materials and consulting support of the entrepreneur);
Test samples of materials from mycelium, grown in the laboratory
  • Create a lamp-flashlight with a battery according to the open source model;

  • Design solutions for a kid’s game for the export market;

    In the technology development process, a project is to prototype acoustic panels from fabric remnants from clothing manufacturers. 

How to apply?

If you have a product idea, want to test a solution, develop a prototype of a product/service/idea, improve the characteristics of an existing product, or need production expertise (for example, there is a drawing, you need to manufacture parts or a product) – send an application.
